WNY Prosperity Scholarship

The University at Buffalo is pleased to announce a new scholarship program that can award eligible students with unmet financial need a one year scholarship award up to $25,000!
Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements for Undergraduate Students:
● Must be at least junior-level at the commencement of the scholarship period;
● Must be a registered full-time undergraduate student;
● Must be in an approved major in any of the programs in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences or in the School of Management, or in the approved major of Biomedical Sciences in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences;
● Must have financial need as demonstrated by needs analysis through submission of a 2009-10 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form;
● Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above;
● Must participate in a credit-bearing summer internship and complete 300 hours of internship work in the eight-county Western New York region1; and
● Must submit a WNY Prosperity Scholarship Application by May 1, 2009.
1An eight county definition of the Western New York region: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Orleans, Niagara, and Wyoming.

Submit your scholarship application and FAFSA no later than May 1.
Note: this scholarship is intended for civic-minded students committed to the Western New York1 community. Scholarship applicants will be asked to describe how their educational, civic, and professional plans will contribute directly to the economic growth and prosperity of the region and to express intent to work at some point in Western New York, thereby actively contributing to the region’s future.
